“It’s a big loss,” Tottenham star leaves stadium on crutches after Manchester United win in major Ange Postecoglou fear

After Saturday’s victory against Manchester United, Ange Postecoglou will be fighting tooth and nail to keep his Tottenham player.

After playing a key role in a victory over Manchester United on Saturday, James Maddison departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches. Ange Postecoglou, the manager, will not be pleased with the sight, despite the fact that it has been regarded as preventative. In the coming weeks, he may need the England international’s inventiveness.

Against United, Maddison was incredibly effective at controlling play from behind the striker. The 26-year-old joined Spurs in the summer for £40 million from Leicester City, and he played the entire 90 minutes of his home debut.

After the 2-0 victory, though, concerns were raised when video showed Maddison exiting the stadium on crutches while sporting a protective boot. It’s believed that Postecoglou said the measures were just precautions.

For the trip to Bournemouth the following Saturday, the Spurs manager will be counting on Maddison to be healthy. The midfielder’s attacking effect is more important than ever now that Harry Kane has left for Bayern Munich.

And when Erik ten Hag’s team struggled to adjust to Postecoglou’s eye-catching style of play, Maddison stepped up to the plate against the Red Devils, driving at the back-line and showcasing his passing range.

Spurs supporters will be hoping that Maddison rediscovers the scoring ability he displayed at Leicester in the three seasons prior to his move to north London now that Kane is out of the picture.

Given that Maddison is now surrounded by players of a greater caliber, the total scoring rate of 55 goals in 203 games for the Foxes could be matched or exceeded at Tottenham. It will be interesting to observe if the crutches and safety boot indicate an impending disaster.

“Brilliant. “He’s been fantastic from the moment I arrived,” Postecoglou added. “He has a lot of energy, but he also has a lot of quality.” He’s one of those midfielders who causes real difficulties for the opponent because it doesn’t matter whether he’s sprinting with or without the ball.

“He charges forward, aggressively, and disrupts the opposition.” He simply has a terrific disposition for a young man. So I’m very happy for him.”
