Brennan Johnson has received a great deal of attention lately from Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the Daily Mail’s transfer exclusive newsletter, Spurs are preparing a move for the Wales international.
It seems that following their League Cup match against Fulham, Tottenham will step up their efforts to sign Johnson.
According to reports, Nottingham Forest turned down a sizable offer from Brentford for the 22-year-old player, but they expect Spurs to step up their pursuit of him.
Johnson, who is among the greatest young players in the Premier League, is reportedly worth at least £50 million to Forest.
Ian Wright thinks that Tottenham would be able to reach their “final form” if they were to sign the Reds star.
For Spurs, Johnson, according to the Premier League analyst, would be the “perfect” addition.
Wright informed Premier League Productions (28/8, 2:40pm) that he has witnessed Brennan Johnson being associated with them.
“That midfield with Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur, and Maddison in and around there, followed by Richarlison up front.
If you can find a Brennan Johnson, you will be dealing with a Tottenham team that is beginning to cause a lot of issues.
“If they can sign another winger, like the dynamic Brennan Johnson. He would be the ideal player for Tottenham.
In the same way that I saw it with Madison, I could fully picture it. The Tottenham would then begin to seem really dangerous in their final shape, in my opinion.
Our view
Johnson’s alleged interest in Tottenham is hardly surprising. His performance in the Premier League has been noticed by everybody.
He appears to have a bright future ahead of him and would undoubtedly be a valuable asset to Spurs or any other significant top-flight team.
Given that Forest aren’t looking to sell, it would be challenging for Tottenham or any other suitors to sign him.
But Spurs have an intriguing lead with this one. Check back in a few days to see what transpires.
