The assurances David Moyes wants before handing the super star a West Ham contract

Free agent Jesse Lingard has been working out with West Ham for a few weeks in an effort to land a job with the east London team.

Although Hammers boss David Moyes requires confirmations before he gives the get-ahead for any transaction to go through, it now appears that he may be close to having what he wants.

Moyes is hedging his bets following what was arguably the player’s underwhelming season at Nottingham Forest.

Lingard is no longer the same player who had a standout loan season at the London Stadium in 2021, therefore if he wants to put on the claret and blue once more, he must unquestionably demonstrate that he still has what it takes to impact games the way he did two years ago.

especially considering how well the Hammers have started the 2023–24 Premier League season.

The Daily Mail reports that if any deal is put on the table, it will reportedly be an incentive-based deal for the season since Moyes needs to be persuaded of the player’s dedication to the team.

In this manner, the club benefits in both ways. As a result, Lingard is forced to give his all-out effort every single week.

West Ham will have another valuable asset on their books if he can even come close to the player he was in 2021.

West Ham didn’t have any new players on board just a few weeks ago, and yet they are now, four games into the Premier League season, sitting atop the standings with some fantastic additions.

The new players who have already joined the Hammers have adapted to their style of play seamlessly, therefore in this situation it’s better late than never for the team.

While James Ward-Prowse’s awareness of his teammates’ locations and the available space has been delightful to see, Edson Alvarez isn’t being moved from his place just in front of the back four.

David Moyes made the right decision when he urged that the club needed to recruit the former Southampton player, as evidenced by the former Saint’s further assist on Friday night.

Ward-Prowse has adapted so well that one BBC journalist believes he is already among the greatest additions of the summer.

Steve Brown stated on BBC Sport’s The Far Post podcast, “I think Ward-Prowse is a brilliant signing.”

“He is a great signing for set-pieces alone, and a fantastic football player as well,” the coach said.

The promising possibility Mohammed Kudus has yet to contribute to the club, so Hammers fans who are happy with how their team has started the season will have to wait to see what else he can do.

If Moyes can get West Ham clicking, there’s no reason why they can’t go on to have another great season. The days and weeks after Declan Rice departed the club and no one had come in to replace him or boost the squad seem like a lifetime ago.
