“There is a big problem”, Westham is set to lose four key players for up to five games at AFCON

Three of the four players West Ham will be missing at the AFCON are absolute studs and might be out for up to five games.

Because of the great Ghanaian player Mohammed Kudus’s acquisition last month, West Ham’s roster already has a significant African effect.

A free agent named Jesse Lingard might follow Kudus at the London Stadium. Kudus was one of four newcomers during the summer transfer window.

He may also be required by the Hammers, especially during the winter. The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been moved from June of this year to January of next year, which is six months later than expected.

However, concerns about the weather in west Africa in mid-June forced the change, so the Ivory Coast will still serve as hosts.

And for roughly five to six weeks between January and February, that might have a significant impact on West Ham’s team.

Because three of the four players West Ham will be without for up to five games in the AFCON are very essential talents.

Obviously, all of this depends on injuries and choice.

However, clubs are often obligated to release players competing in AFCON at least a week before the tournament’s scheduled start on January 13.

Additionally, the competition does not end until February 11th, five weeks later.

Although it will be up to West Ham manager David Moyes and his players to decide, most players involved also receive a few days of relaxation after their engagement before returning to club duty.

As a result, West Ham will probably be without Kudus, Said Benrahma, Nayef Aguerd, and Maxwel Cornet for games against Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Manchester United, Arsenal, and perhaps Nottingham Forest as well, depending on how far they progress and how much time off they receive afterward, if any.

Cornet will take part because Ivory Coast has already qualified.

Since Algeria has also qualified, Benrahma will be abroad.

Morocco, whose star defender Aguerd is, has done the same.

Additionally, Ghana is in first place in their group and is the overwhelming favorite to defeat Central African Republic on Thursday night. That will result in the hiring of a new man worth £38 million. Kudus will also be absent.

Therefore, it would seem that West Ham made the right decision to purchase Lingard, even if it was just to provide backup for the busy winter season in light of these anticipated AFCON absences.
