Ange Postecoglou is doing a fantastic job leading Tottenham Hotspur, and Micky van de Ven has been one of the team’s top players this year.

In the summer transfer window, Micky van de Ven moved from VfL Wolfsburg to Tottenham Hotspur.

Success for Micky van de Ven at Tottenham Hotspur

Sky Sports reports that Tottenham initially paid German club Wolfsburg £34.5 million in transfer fees for Van de Ven.

The Premier League can be difficult for some players to adjust to, but the 22-year-old central defender has adapted to English football like a duck to water.

Van de Ven has established himself as a consistent member of Tottenham’s starting lineup.

And, against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon, the Dutch defender scored.

James Maddison has been hugely impressed by Van de Ven, and, as you can see below, the Tottenham and England international attacking midfielder has praised him.

In the Premier League on Saturday, Tottenham defeated Luton Town 2-1 away from home.

In the final seconds of the first half, Yves Bissouma of Spurs was dismissed.

In the 52nd minute, Van de Ven scored the game’s lone goal.

James Maddison cut the ball back from a short corner, and the Dutchman punched home his first goal for Spurs.

Van de Ven also played outstanding defense.

The 22-year-old was solid at the back in the first half and resisted giving in to pressure from the Luton attackers in the second.

DARREN BENT PRAISES TOTTENHAM DISPLAY BUT £22M ACE HAD ‘QUIET DAY’ AT LUTON TOWN

Although Son Heung-Min was ‘silent’ at Kenilworth Road, Darren Bent commended Tottenham Hotspur for their tenacious effort to defeat Luton Town 1-0 on the road.

Tottenham won the game at Luton by three points thanks to a lone goal from Micky van de Ven. James Maddison made a deft move inside the Hatters’ penalty area, earning the masterful playmaker his fifth season-high assist. With the victory, Spurs rose to the top of the Premier League standings.

Tottenham maintains a slim lead over championship rivals Arsenal despite champions Manchester City visiting them on Sunday. Dejan Kulusevski made a quick decision to send the ball to Maddison before him, who then helped Van de Ven and took the lead even with Spurs behind by just one point.

Bent felt Son was ‘quiet’ as Tottenham shone at Luton

After Yves Bissouma made a clear dive, referee John Brooks showed him a second yellow card. The midfielder had just brought down Chiedozie Ogbene and was already on a caution. However, he immediately let Spurs down by attempting to win a free kick on the outskirts of the box.

With only 10 players, Tottenham battled to defeat Luton 1-0 and win Bent over. However, the former Spurs striker said Son fell short of expectations at Luton as Maddison and Van de Ven earned three points for Tottenham. He also made reference to Postecoglou’s ability to function without Harry Kane.

“They’ve stepped up really well,” Bent told Premier League Productions (14:41, 07/10). “No Harry Kane anymore, Son had a quiet day today day. They had to find a different way to win today. They had to dig in, they went down to 10 men early, but they managed to hang on.”

Son had his chances to shine but lacked the final touch

Son had a few chances to shine as Tottenham beat Luton but did not give enough to impress Bent. Postecoglou also took the £22m arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015 off after 76 minutes for Emerson Royal. Son wasted his best shot after Tom Lockyer’s poor clearance.

Emerson’s introduction saw Son depart having attempted three shots but with just one sent on target, per WhoScored. He had also offered two key passes, though, with only Maddison (4) and Pape Matar Sarr (3) recording more. But those came from only 17 completed passes.
