‘I always look at reactions’ – Postecoglou one sentence reaction on Bissouma’s red card

Ange Postecoglou’s comment on Bissouma’s red card

After the Tottenham midfielder received a second caution for simulation against Luton Town, Ange Postecoglou acknowledged that Yves Bissouma made a mistake.

Tottenham faced the challenge of playing against ten men (and later nine) against Liverpool last week, and they faced the opposite issue against Luton after being reduced to ten themselves right before the conclusion of the first session.

When Bissouma went down at the edge of the box without any contact, referee John Brooks had little choice but to brandish a second yellow card because he had already been admonished earlier in the game for blocking a Luton counterattack with a dubious foul.

In spite of having to play 45 minutes with one fewer player in a hostile environment, the Lilywhites persevered and earned all three points. Postecoglou was ecstatic with how his team handled the situation when a player was dismissed.

Bissouma will have a chance to bounce back at Spurs

The Spurs head coach responded to a question over Bissouma’s dismissal by saying, “The referee said he had simulated and Biss made a mistake. He has performed admirably for us this year. He erred, but the positive thing is how he handles these situations.

“His teammates made sure that error didn’t cost us, and when Biss rejoins the squad, I have no doubt that he will pay it forward and make sure that no matter what happens, he can lead us to victory.

These incidents occur in football. It’s depressing. I always consider how these things will be received. How are we addressing it? The response, in my opinion, was excellent.

The only positive aspect of the red card was that it occurred towards the conclusion of the first half, giving Tottenham some breathing room to reorganize their thoughts and strategy.

Ange and the coaching staff should be commended greatly for the way they came out for the second half, ready to battle and certain that they could earn three points.
