Following his remarks in a recent interview, fans mercilessly tromp Manchester United and Sergio Reguilon.
Luke Shaw sustained a long-term injury, and Reguilon came to Manchester United on loan from Tottenham late in the summer transfer window.
The Spaniard has also impressed everyone with his efforts, proving to be a wonderful addition to the Red Devils thus far.
In a recent interview with the official Manchester United website, the full-back was asked why he decided to join the team, to which he responded:
It’s too simple of a question. Name one player who has expressed a desire to play for Manchester United. Making the choice was simple for me.
However, the fans were quick to criticize him, with many of them uploading a list of the players who had lately rejected United, with Frenkie de Jong being one of the most frequently listed.
Some supporters of Manchester United also brought up the fact that Spurs were his preferred team to sign in 2020, despite United’s interest in doing so.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he turn us down for spurs a few years back?” a fan said in their post.
Someone else said, “What was going through his head a few years ago? If the stories at the time were accurate, he would have picked Spurs over United.
Reguilon paid $30 million to join Spurs from Madrid and had a respectable debut campaign. However, he has subsequently found it difficult to win over any manager, including Conte, Mourinho, and now Ange Postecoglou.
He was heavily linked to a summer transfer to La Liga, but Manchester United gave him a surprising lifeline at the end of the transfer window due to their injury problems. His remarks imply that he is content where he is at Manchester United and that his time at Spurs may be coming to an end.
It is unclear if United will choose to sign him on a long-term basis.
