‘It’s credit to everyone’ – Postecoglou reacts to breaking PL manager record

Postecoglou’s reaction to breaking the Premier League manager record is, “It’s credit to everyone.”

Ange Postecoglou achieved the record for most Premier League points by a manager after his team’s first nine games, and he gave gratitude to the players and everyone at Tottenham for their great start to the season.

Along with their two road draws at Brentford and Arsenal, Tottenham picked up their seventh victory of the year in nine games against Fulham on Monday.

By doing so, Postecoglou has surpassed the previous record of 22 points, which was shared by Mike Walker and Guus Hiddink at Norwich City and Chelsea, respectively (ESPN), with 23 points in his first nine league games in charge.

Tottenham were overwhelming favourites heading into the clash against the Cottagers and it was the sort of banana peal game that Spurs sides of the past have slipped up on.

However, this side showed that they are made of sterner stuff, delivering a professional performance to emerge 2-0 winners.

Postecoglou gives credit to his team and players.

Postecoglou said to Football.London when asked about the new Premier League record he had established after nine games: “It’s credit to everyone. We’ve had a really positive start to the season, and we’ve been consistently strong in terms of both performance and results.

We had a lot of work to do tonight. The first half, in my opinion, was pretty well held. Since Fulham was well-organized, especially defensively, we had to be quite patient in our search for openings.

The way we played in the first half of yesterday’s game was the best I’ve seen us play so far this season, which suggests that the players may be getting more comfortable with the system with each game.

We did let up in the closing 30 minutes of the game and nearly gave Fulham a chance to tie the score, which Postecoglou and his coaching staff would like to correct moving ahead.
