‘A lost cause’ – Pundit says Postecoglou has worked wonders on ‘hot-headed’ Spurs star

The maturity that Cristian Romero has displayed this season has astonished Jermaine Beckford, who previously believed the Argentine was “a lost cause.”

Romero had a solid reputation when he joined Tottenham in 2021 after winning the Serie A Defender of the Year honor during the 2020–21 season.

The center-back undoubtedly displayed a lot of potential during his first season playing in England, but, like many other members of the Spurs club, his performances significantly deteriorated last season.

The 25-year-old had significant difficulties in the second half of the season since he was a part of a defense that was fairly porous.

Romero, on the other hand, has undergone a complete change as a player thus far this season, and his relationship with Micky van de Ven has all the hallmarks of a premier tandem.

Cristian Romero has been reborn under Postecoglou

After being named vice-captain by Postecoglou, the Argentine has also been able to control his aggression better this season, which Beckford admittedly shocked him.

During an interview with Premier League Productions on October 22, the former Everton striker stated: “Romero, I believed he was a lost cause, I thought he was. He used to be overconfident, but he now appears to have gained control.

“Everyone is aware of their responsibilities. But they advance and stand together in defense. I didn’t believe Ange Postecoglou would be able to get that over here as quickly as she did.

Romero seems to have a sense of ownership with the current Spurs team, just as he does with the Argentina squad, which was not always the case under Conte. It turned out to be a wise choice on Ange’s part to give him the vice-captaincy.

Pedro Porro claims 25-year-old Tottenham teammate is the best player in the world

Cristian Romero has been praised as the best player in the world by Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro.

For Ange Postecoglou’s team against Fulham last night, the two defenders started, and they played well. Romero in particular was exceptional, and Porro appears to be very pleased with his teammate’s work. He said the following on Instagram.

Pedro Porro says Tottenham’s Cristian Romero is the best in the world

Tottenham has always had a great offense; over the past few seasons, however, their defense had become increasingly problematic.

The hiring of top-notch defensive coaches like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte by Daniel Levy did not succeed either, and it put Spurs in a dreadful situation.

In the summer, Levy adopted a new strategy and appointed Postecoglou. He radically changed Spurs, not just in the attack but also in the defense.

In nine games this season in the Premier League, Tottenham has only given up eight goals. That is the division’s joint-best record, and Cristian Romero has been instrumental in helping them get there.

The 25-year-old World Cup champion from Argentina has excelled this year. Together, he and the quick Micky van de Ven have created a fantastic connection that has made Spurs a highly reliable team.

Romero started for Tottenham Friday night against Fulham, and he once again impressed. He assisted in maintaining a clean sheet, and Pedro Porro seems pleased with his performance to the point where he declared the Argentine the finest player in the world on Instagram.

He wrote: “Best in the 🌍 mi cutiiiiii!!”

Spurs star Romero has become a different player

Cristian Romero, a standout defender for Tottenham, has always been excellent, but he previously lacked control.

Many questioned if the North Londoners could ever rely on the Argentine because of his style of play. The Argentine’s carelessness and lack of discipline have cost Spurs in the past.

Romero, however, appears to have improved as a player recently. He is still highly aggressive, but his aggression is much more under control than it was previously, which makes him an excellent defender.

The next London derby pits Tottenham against Crystal Palace. Spurs should expect to keep another clean sheet if Romero plays well.
