Leon Osman laughs at West Ham United and David Moyes question live on Match of the Day

Asking whether David Moyes would be understanding of Konstantinos Mavropanos’ error for West Ham against Crystal Palace, Leon Osman laughed off Mark Chapman during a live segment on Match of the Day.

The former player for Everton, who was a member of Moyes’ team while there, drew on his personal encounters with the manager to assert that he doesn’t comprehend individual mistakes any more than he does collective ones.

Standards need to be kept high

Moyes must make sure that the bar is kept high at the London Stadium and that errors that cost the team points, like this one, are just not acceptable. I know it sounds harsh, and some managers would rather throw their arms around a player when they make a mistake.

Although Moyes’ management style and approach make it unlikely that Mavropanos would readily extend forgiveness, he will be fully aware of his mistake and there is no need to dwell on it in the long run.
