Kurt Zouma ‘terrified’ after armed gang ‘broke into his home and stole 100,000’
Kurt Zouma, the star of West Ham, and his family were left in shock when an armed gang broke into their house and took away jewels and cash worth £100,000, leaving them scared.
The defender was allegedly at home with his family on Saturday when the gang stormed in.
According to The Sun, Zouma was unable to play in Sunday’s home match between West Ham and Crystal Palace because of the incident.
In the beginning, the team stated that Zouma was unable to play because of “personal reasons”.
“This was an extremely worrying attack and left Kurt and his family traumatized,” a source told the publication.
“The house was thoroughly looted by this well-organized and violent gang.
“After going through a terrible event, Kurt and his family still find it difficult to talk about what occurred.
“He wouldn’t have missed a game otherwise, so everyone at the club knew right away that it was extremely serious.”
The statement went on, “The player’s family has already discussed the necessity to leave since they are too afraid to stay at the residence.
Kurt is shocked and a devoted family guy. Protecting his family is his first concern.
A £25,000 reward for information leading to the gang’s apprehension was officially announced by West Ham on Monday.
A statement from the team read as follows: “West Ham United has announced a £25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of thieves who broke into defender Kurt Zouma’s home on the eve of the Club’s Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace this weekend.
“Kurt’s family was inside when his house was broken into on Saturday, causing great hardship for everyone who was there.
“Although fortunately no one was hurt, the West Ham United defender, his wife, and their little family went through a harrowing event.
Items of great personal and sentimental significance to the family were taken by the burglars, and their value was considerable.
Kurt’s family is still receiving the whole support of the West Ham United family.
Having met Sandra while they were youngsters in Lyon, Zouma is married to her and together they have four children.
