West Ham United leading race for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, face Premier League competition

Football Transfers reports that West Ham intends to make a January deal for Armando Broja of Chelsea.

The internet news source stated on Monday, December 11th, that the Hammers are in the lead in the competition to recruit the Albanian forward, although a number of Premier League teams are also interested in signing him.

Michail Antonio is sidelined for West Ham, and both Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, who play wide at home, have been used as strikers this season. West Ham is reportedly looking to add more players up top.

    West Ham

With one goal in a 2-0 victory over Fulham and an assist in a one-minute cameo during the 4–4 tie with Manchester City, Broja has only started three league games this season.

A significant knee injury hindered Broja’s progress during his season on loan at Southampton in 2021–2022, despite his promising return of nine goals in 38 games. It was anticipated that Broja would play a bigger role at Stamford Bridge.

    A sensible change of mind

It’s anticipated that Chelsea will return to the transfer market in January in search of more offensive players, despite their concerns regarding their goalkeeper.

And since Nicolas Jackson, who has already scored six goals in the league, is still Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred center of attack, a move to East London may be imminent.

Like Chelsea, West Ham are in the market for a true poacher, particularly because Danny Ings is slated to move on and Antonio is out of form this season.

Gianluca Scamacca made his Serie A comeback with Atalanta in the summer following a single season at West Ham, a team with a turbulent history of strikers at London Stadium.

The Hammers are expected to sign a new striker next month, though it is unclear if they will pursue Broja.
