Jeff Stelling has shared what has impressed him most about Guglielmo Vicario following the goalkeeper’s move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
Stelling was speaking on talkSPORT (11/12; 6:38) following Spurs’ decisive 4-1 victory against Newcastle on Sunday, which saw them return to winning ways.
Guglielmo Vicario will be unhappy because he couldn’t finish the game with a perfect record. However, given the previous outcomes, he will be much glad to have had a far less hectic evening.
Jeff Stelling impressed by Guglielmo Vicario since Tottenham move
In fact, Vicario’s apparent altercation with Callum Wilson towards the conclusion of the game was perhaps the most noteworthy occurrence involving him.
However, there’s no denying that since joining the Premier League in the summer, Vicario has been somewhat of a revelation. Undoubtedly, this season, Jeff Stelling has been a huge fan of the 27-year-old.
“What has most impressed me about him is that, despite never having played for a major club while he was in Italy, he has taken on that role at a major club and performed it as though he had played for major clubs his entire career!” He’s been excellent, he said on talkSPORT.
Transfer proving a masterstroke
Not just Stelling will be shocked by the goalie’s performance. Vicario was connected to Tottenham in the summer, however James Maddison recently acknowledged that he had never heard of him.
However, he has made a name for himself this season as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League.
He seems to fit Ange Postecoglou’s desired style of play for his squad wonderfully. Even while he occasionally makes mistakes, he has also been in charge of some very remarkable events.
Spurs’ summer signing of him for £17 million is undoubtedly turning out to be a brilliant move. Tottenham seems to have unearthed a man who might be a mainstay for years to come, but one side of North London is always under scrutiny for their goalie acquisition.
