The Athletic reports that Scott McKenna, a target for the Rangers and Celtics, is also being considered by Turkish powerhouse Trabzonspor.
After starting Nottingham Forest’s first five Premier League games of the season, the 27-year-old defender has not appeared for the team.
Due to his lack of inclusion in matchday squads, the club is eager to let him go in the January transfer window.
Both Celtic and Rangers are interested in the former Aberdeen defender from north of the border.
Nonetheless, Turkey will present a challenge to the Scottish behemoths.
Trabzonspor finds McKenna intriguing and wants to take him to the Black Sea Coast.
The Trabzonspor are in need of defensive reinforcements, and McKenna is thought to be a good fit.
McKenna is anticipated to move clubs before the end of the month because Nottingham Forest is eager to let him go.
And the former Afghan man might find relocation to Turkey appealing.

Declan Rice was almost signed by Celtic, according to Brendan Rodgers, who also emphasized the risky nature of January transfer deals.
In light of the story of England midfielder Rice, who transferred from West Ham to Arsenal for a £105 million deal in the summer, Rodgers has cautioned against making any roster additions until early in the month.
Given that the majority of the club’s summer acquisitions have yet to establish themselves on the squad, Rodgers has previously discussed the necessity of acquiring players who can contribute right away.
The Celtic manager, who spent his first stint in Glasgow from 2016 to 2019, declared: “The club will make every effort to support our needs as well as the needs of the team.”
“There is a lot of work going on in the background, but we should be able to enjoy ourselves and squeeze in one or two during this early part of the month. It would be best to get them in as soon as possible.
“Things that may have lasted for three or four months may disappear, and deals can be complicated. The challenge is always the same: all it takes is one injury to (affect) a player who was expected to start.
“I recall that during my initial visit, we looked for roughly three months for declan rice to come in.”
Declan was ready to start, but then West Ham suffered an injury. He decided to stay and join the team, and the rest is history. It’s just the way things are; the club is not to blame for it.
“We wish to give priority to a few positions. I am aware that there are some positions for which we won’t be able to take action until the summer. However, I am aware that we wish to strengthen the team, and the club is more than willing to assist us in doing so.”
This month, Rodgers hopes to trim down his team, but outside factors could also have an impact on that process.
“We obviously have to wait and see as some players may want to go, but if we don’t get the players in that we need, then I have to make sure the squad is as strong as it possibly can be for the second part of the season,” he said. “I have regular dialogue with players.”
