Report: Liverpool preparing for Kelleher departure as Celtic loan-to-buy floated

According to reports, Liverpool is getting ready for Caoimhin Kelleher to leave.Jurgen Klopp is reportedly expecting the 25-year-old to move on from Celtic, where the Irish international has been linked to in recent weeks.

The Sun reported that Liverpool’s scouts are looking to replace Kelleher, who would serve as Allison Becker’s backup, and that Kelleher is a target for the Scottish Champions Brendan Rodgers in the summer.

According to the report, Liverpool is reportedly demanding an eight-figure fee from Kelleher, whose brother was a player in Celtic’s Academy. The big goalie has made 12 appearances for Liverpool so far this season, but it’s likely that he will try to get a move to play more first team football after dropping in the national team’s rankings.

According to reports, Celtic is a possibility for a loan-to-buy agreement, which would entail a summertime temporary move to Paradise and then the implementation of an option to buy, which is typically negotiated in advance by parties. But while the Reds stopper looks forward to regular game time, other teams are fighting for his signature.

Joe Hart, the starting center for Celtics, has six months left on his contract. Brendan and the Englishman are anticipated to have a meeting at the end of the current campaign to talk about the future. Similar to the summer of 2020, when Craig Gordon was free to depart but Fraser Forster made a mistake and signed Vasilis Barkas, to name but one example, Celtic could find themselves in a sticky situation.

It should be interesting to watch how this one plays out, though it seems likely that Hart will go on and be replaced by Kelleher.

Greg Stewart recalls Des Buckingham Celtic link and savage text troll of Mumbai boss

Prior to Brendan Rodgers, Buckingham’s name surfaced in one of the more peculiar Hoops connections.

Greg Stewart has shared his reaction to learning that Des Buckingham was connected to the Celtic position in the summer of last year.

The 38-year-old rookie manager was seen boarding a flight to Glasgow for a personal visit while he was working with the former Rangers attacker in Mumbai, India. With Ange Postecoglou having just won a treble at Parkhead, fans were desperate for any managerial names at the time, and the rumour mill was in overdrive.

Before Brendan Rodgers returned, Buckingham’s name was shockingly added to the mix due to his connections to the City Football Group. Stewart, his standout player in the Indian Super League, recalls exactly what he texted his former manager about learning of the absurd connections.

When host Si Ferry brought up Buckingham’s Hoops link on Open Goal, Stewart laughed and said, “Aye, I messaged him saying I think they’re looking for a kit man!”

Since then, Buckingham has moved on from Mumbai to assume leadership of Oxford United in League One, where they are currently ranked sixth. Stewart went on, “They were second when he took over because their manager left for Bristol City, and you don’t usually take a job when your team is winning.

“It’s challenging to enter a position when things are going well and to maintain your integrity. However, I believe they did fairly well.”
