“NOT FOR SALE”: Brendan Rodgers issues hands-off warning over 3 star players

Scottish champions don’t need to sell because they are in excellent financial standing.

Atletico Madrid has made an offer for Matt O’Riley to Celtic.

CHRIS SUTTON: Why don’t teams sign players? This transfer window requires some energy! It Is All Beginning

Before the transfer deadline on Thursday, Brendan Rodgers has made it impossible for any of his highly valued assets to leave Parkhead.

The Celtic boss announced that the team had received an offer from Atletico Madrid for Matt O’Riley. It is initially thought that the deal is a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer for approximately £20 million.

Watford, Southampton, and West Brom are interested in loaning their star player, Liel Abada. The English teams are willing to give the Israeli player a new experience before making a decision on his future in the summer.

According to reports, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford are keeping an eye on Cameron Carter-Vickers’ circumstances as Celtic attempts to sign the US international defender to a new contract.

Despite the Scottish champions’ dire financial situation, Rodgers is certain that no bid for any of his star players will be considered in the near future.

It’s that simple: they won’t be going, he stated. “January is a challenging month in any case, whether you’re trying to sell or bring in players.” It’s not what we wish to undertake. That is not of interest to us.

O’Riley, who cost £1.5 million when he was signed from MK Dons in January 2022, drew Diego Simeone’s attention as Atletico Madrid faced Celtic in the Champions League this season.

Even if the Spanish powerhouses return with a better offer, Rodgers says the club won’t back down because the league title is still up for grabs.

The manager continued, “I’m not sure, but it doesn’t really matter; he is not someone we want to sell.”

It’s a fantastic endorsement of him and what the team can accomplish for a player.

This season, he was awarded his first international cap for Denmark, and Atletico Madrid is a well-known team in European football.

But he plays a significant role in our work. I had a nice conversation with Matt this morning, and he has been a pleasure to work with. In the latter half of the season, he is someone who we can count on.

One of the things about Matt that has truly impressed me is his professionalism, attitude, and level of respect for Celtic.

Despite the fact that he had an opportunity in the summer, he was delighted to extend here because Atletico Madrid is undoubtedly a major league. However, he is also aware of how fortunate he is. This season, he has really come on, and he wants to keep it up.

“He will be here for the second part of the season, and we have no desire or need to sell.”

Though nothing is imminent, Rodgers is hopeful that more players will arrive before Thursday’s deadline to join only January signing Nick Kuhn.

“Not just now,” he replied. Of course, there is work being done behind the scenes.

However, trying to get players in is difficult. I have previously discussed quality, and I will continue to do so because it is the foundation of what I hope to create here.

“I want to add more quality players to our squad, as we have a lot of them who are growing and improving.”

However, adding quality is never simple because other teams don’t want to lose talented players. However, it’s a work in progress, and my hope is that we can finish it before the window closes.

Following a muscle injury he suffered last weekend in the Scottish Cup against Buckie Thistle, Greg Taylor will be sidelined for some time.

“Greg will be out for a few weeks,” Rodgers declared prior to tomorrow’s Premiership matchup with Ross County.

At the conclusion of the weekend’s match, he experienced a minor calf strain.

“It is unfortunate that he is no longer with us, as he has shown remarkable and reliable play thus far this season.”
