LAS VEGAS: So far, sportsbooks have seen one $1 million wager and seven six-figure bets on the Super Bowl spread and money line.
In Sunday’s game at Allegiant Stadium, the 49ers are favored over the Chiefs by all eight major wagers.
This week, a bettor at Caesars Sportsbook wagered $500,000 on the 49ers on the money line (-125) in hopes of winning $400,000.
“At this moment, we’re still Chiefs supporters,” Craig Mucklow, vice president of trading for Caesars, stated.
After Caesars accepted a $1 million wager last week and won $833,333.33 on San Francisco on the money line (-120), that is the second-largest Super Bowl bet that has been reported.
Tuesday night, Caesars accepted a $136,000 wager on the 49ers at -130 on the money line. Station Casinos said they have taken two six-figure wagers, one at -1 1/2 and the other at -1.
“It is evident that bigger bets have been placed on San Francisco. However, Chuck Esposito, director of sportsbook at Red Rock Resort, stated that “the ticket count really favors the Chiefs plus the points and on the money line.”
According to Esposito, the Chiefs are the favorite in 64% of STN Sports’ spread wagers. 74% of tickets on the total are on the over, and 71% of tickets on the money line are on the Chiefs.
“I firmly believe that controlling the score may play a significant role in Sunday’s match,” Esposito stated. “As a whole, the industry should be doing well if we can keep the game below.
“We made it up to 48 a few times, but intelligent or deft play has faded.”
All told, the total is 47 1/2.
According to Dylan Sullivan, an oddsmaker for Circa Sports, “we flashed 48 but it didn’t last long.”
On Wednesday, the 49ers remained the unanimous 2-point favorites, with the Westgate SuperBook being the only bookmaker to set a 2 1/2 spread.
“We placed a few significant wagers on San Francisco. However, as of right now, Kansas City is witnessing a steady stream of small money,” stated Ed Salmons, vice president of risk at SuperBook.
The 49ers have been the subject of straight bets of $110,000 at -1, $60,000 at -2, and $44,000 at -1 1/2 at the SuperBook.
Even though the great majority of the wagering money on the Super Bowl isn’t anticipated to arrive until this weekend, the game is beginning to take shape at sportsbooks as a contest between public and professional bettors. “I believe all of the funding will come from the public in Kansas City.”
stated Salmons. The line for this game was going to be San Francisco by 2 1/2 or 3, pretty much all year long. Baltimore was meant to be that. The shift toward Kansas City was more than the astute men realized.
The fact that the general public is eager to wager on Kansas City is advantageous to us. We’ll be correct if the astute men are correct.”
The Chiefs have a 185-77 advantage over the 49ers in the ATS ticket count at the SuperBook. With teasers and parlays included, the Chiefs lead 321-130.
The majority of the total amount is on the over at Westgate.
“We took ($4,000) right away from the wiseguys on the over when we put it up 47 1/2,” Salmons remarked. We’re all over money right now. That’s okay with us. San Francisco’s defense needs to perform, in my opinion, as Kansas City has played lower-scoring games the entire season.
“San Francisco should put up a strong effort in this game, and Kansas City’s offense has been lacking all season.”
