‘I am normally angry when we lose’ – Shaun Edwards fumes after criticism of France’s defence in Six Nations opener

Shaun Edwards, the defence coach for France, responded angrily to those who criticized Les Bleus for giving up nine tries in their last two Test matches, five of which came in their Six Nations opener.

Reacting angrily to suggestions that Les Bleus have softened after their defeat to Ireland, Edwards tried to get France’s campaign back on track.

South Africa won 29–28 against France in the World Cup quarterfinal, where the Springboks scored four tries and Andy Farrell’s team scored five in Marseille.

‘It is very important to me’.

Before the match against Scotland, Edwards became irritable after being questioned about France’s defensive lapses.

He seemed to take offense at the question and responded sharply, “We had the best defense at the World Cup.”

Edwards said, “I am normally angry when we lose,” in response to the statement made that he appeared irate. It has great personal significance for me, and I am aware of its significance for the French people and their supporters.

Over the past four years, our win percentage has averaged 75%, with occasional highs of 80%. The Ireland game is the only occasion I can think of where we fell short of our usual standards.

France’s worst performance in four years

The England player is optimistic that his team will perform well at Murrayfield after Ireland achieved their highest-ever point total in France the previous week.

He remarked, “In the last four years, we haven’t played so poorly.”

As I previously stated, we can’t wait for the game to start and are ready to improve tomorrow. That was our one truly subpar performance against one of the top two teams in the world.

“We must perform better on offense, defense, in our kicking game, and in set pieces. We are aware that Scotland, who has been ranked in the top five over the past 12 months, is a formidable foe.

“We just want to give a better account of ourselves, and obviously, a victory would be nice as well. We know we’re in for a tough game.”
