49ers Sign DL Raymond Johnson III and DL Earnest Brown IV
The San Francisco 49ers declared that they have inked two free agents to one-year contracts:
- DL Earnest Brown IV
- DL Raymond Johnson III
The Los Angeles Rams selected Brown IV (6-5, 270) in the fifth round (174th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. On August 31, 2021, he signed with the team’s practice squad after being released by the Rams. Brown has played in 12 games (three starts) and had 14 tackles in his three years with the Rams (2021–2023). Brown made seven appearances and tallied five tackles in 2023.
The 49ers of San Francisco Sign Four Free Agents
The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed the four free agents listed below:

- DL Austin Bryant
- OL Corey Luciano
- DL T.Y. McGill
All of the players were on the team’s practice squad at the end of the 2023 campaign.
Shanahan Alters the Coaching of the Defensive Coordinator
As the San Francisco 49ers wrap up the 2023 campaign and prepare for the offseason, coaching adjustments have been made. Head coach Kyle Shanahan declared on Wednesday that he had fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Wilks arrived in The Bay after serving as the Carolina Panthers’ interim head coach at the conclusion of 2022. He was hired in the offseason to succeed DeMeco Ryans, who accepted a head coaching position with the Houston Texans.
