26-year-old drops hint he wants to swap Spurs for another English club

Joe Rodon is absolutely thriving on loan at Leeds United this season, and the defender has now dropped his biggest hint yet that he will join the club permanently at the end of the current campaign.

Despite being with Tottenham since 2020, Rodon has still only made 24 appearances for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt) and has never quite managed to become a first-team staple in North London.

After a tepid loan spell with French side Rennes last year, Rodon joined Leeds United this season and returned to the Championship, the league where he first caught the eye all those years ago.

The Welshman has been almost ever-present for Leeds as the Yorkshire side make a charge to be promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

That promotion could be crucial to Rodon’s own future, too. It has been suggested previously that if the club were to gain access to the top flight again, the defender would be keen to make his stay there a permanent one (Football Insider).

Now, the man himself has hinted as much, with his latest comments to Leeds Live suggesting he wants to play in the Premier League with his current teammates.

He said: “I think it would be a really nice kind of journey if we did get there [the Premier League]. With the journeys we’ve all been on, now it’s all led us to this moment. I just think it would be great for the collective as well, all of us to be playing together in the Premier League.”

The Championship is a fascinating league, and I do believe Leeds will just sneak into that top two and get the automatic promotion spot. Either way, I think Rodon will be playing in the Premier League next season, with or without Leeds.
