‘He can still play’: Ange Postecoglou says  Tottenham  star is completely ‘fine’, has no injury issue

Ange Postecoglou has insisted that Heung-min Son is completely ‘fine’ and has no injury issues at the moment.

Heung-min Son got back amongst the goals on Saturday as Tottenham picked up a crucial 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

It was the 31-year-old’s first goal since returning from the Asian Cup last month, where he suffered a dislocated finger during an off-pitch incident involving one of his South Korean teammates, Lee Kang-in.

The Spurs skipper has been playing with his middle and index fingers strapped together since his return and Ange Postecoglou was asked about the injury following Saturday’s win.

Postecoglou claims Son has no injury issue

As quoted by Football.London, Postecoglou responded when quizzed on Son’s injury.

“It’s a finger, even if he loses it, it won’t really matter. He can still play, he’s fine,” the Aussie boss said.

Son netted his 13th goal of the season on Saturday after returning to the No9 position in Richarlison’s absence.

The South Korean star has once again been Spurs’ talisman this season, despite a recent surge from Richarlison in his absence.

It will be intriguing to see if Son keeps his place as the striker once the Brazilian returns to action.

Both players seem better suited to leading the line but Spurs arguably look more potent in attack with Son playing through the middle due to his playmaking abilities.

Despite the injury he suffered while on international duty, Son has returned to have a hand in two goals in three games.

With a crucial trip to Aston Villa coming up, Tottenham will need their skipper at his very best if they wish to close the gap on their top-four rivals.

The £22 million man could pose a real threat to Unai Emery’s side next Sunday due to his ability to make smart runs in behind opposition defences.

Villa excel at catching their opponents offside but Son will fancy his chances of making an impact next weekend, especially if he’s playing as the striker.
