Aston Villa vs Spurs – Chris Sutton predicts who will finish in the top four

Chris Sutton backs his former club Aston Villa to pip Tottenham Hotspur to a fourth-place finish this season.

Tottenham’s trip to Villa Park on Sunday is arguably the biggest game of the season so far for both clubs, with the two sides battling it out for the final guaranteed Champions League spot.

The fact that Man Utd have lost ground after back-to-back losses makes Sunday’s clash a six-pointer, with Unai Emery’s men sitting five points clear but Spurs having a game in hand.

A win for the West Midlands side will see them build a significant gap over Tottenham, thus leaving Ange Postecoglou’s side with a lot of work to do, particularly considering the difficult games they have towards the end of the season.

Tottenham vs Aston Villa in the race for top four

Villa are on an excellent run of form and have been a formidable side at home this season and Sutton believes they will have enough to edge out Spurs in the race.

When asked who will finish fourth, the pundit told BBC 606: “Villa are in the box seat, aren’t they? I think it will be Villa. They’re my old team, the biggest team in Birmingham.”

Tottenham need to come away from Sunday’s clash with at least a draw as a defeat will put Villa in the driver’s seat. However, we know that Ange Postecoglou will set his team up to try and dictate proceedings at Villa Park and emerge with all three points.
