West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus believes that his team need to do one particular thing a lot better.
And without realising it, Hammers star Mohammed Kudus has just criticised one of his West Ham United teammates.
This season, the 23-year-old has been in incredible form for the Hammers and has drawn high appreciation from both supporters and analysts.
Although David Moyes made a wise choice in bringing Kudus to the London Stadium, he made a less wise choice early in the season.
Kurt Zouma was appointed club captain by the Scot, which was a terrible decision considering the Frenchman’s lack of leadership qualities both on and off the field and his extreme injury history. Apart from that, he has significantly declined this season and doesn’t appear to be physically capable of competing at the highest level.
It appears that Kudus unintentionally criticized the 29-year-old center back now.
Mohammed Kudus not happy with West Ham defending
The Ghanaian has been speaking to the club’s official website about our Europa League defeat to Freiburg on Thursday night.
And Kudus suggested that poor defending cost the Hammers against the German outfit:
“They scored a late goal to win it, I think we can do better defensively.”
Signed for £30 million from Chelsea in 2021 (Sky Sports), it seemed like Moyes had secured a real coup. The centre-back was brilliant for us for 18 months, but then towards the end of last season, the signs were there that he was regressing.
And whilst Kudus didn’t actually name any names, it’s obvious he was talking about Zouma. The defending from the Frenchman really was awful against Freiburg, especially for their goal when he ball watched and completely forgot where his man was.
The 6ft 3in defender was incredibly poor throughout the entire game, and the really concerning thing for me is that he has now become a target for our opponents.
Zouma has been nowhere near the levels required this season, and it’s painfully obvious to see that Moyes needs to sign a top-class centre-back to replace him in the summer.
I think the majority of fans and the players realise that the former Chelsea man is not the same player anymmore.
Mohammed Kudus may not have meant it, but he clearly criticised his West Ham teammate Zouma, after the 29-year-old’s role in our defeat.
