The Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers may currently be in the play-in tournament right now, but they’re a team that no younger team should want to face – Charles Barkley disagrees.
During an episode of NBA on TNT, Charles Barkley absolutely ripped sports media for covering the Lakers and Warriors in a positive light, despite being play-in tournament teams.
“I’m so sick of these fools on other networks talking about the Lakers and the Warriors,” Barkley said. “We don’t brag about any other play-in teams do we? I understand Steph is great, LeBron is great – ain’t nobody worried about the Lakers and the Warriors in the West.”
Barkley then doubled down on his statements, claiming that no one in the Western Conference is scared of the Warriors and Lakers.
“Man, nobody is worried about the Lakers and the Warriors,” Barkley said. “They’re playing good right now, but lemme tell you something, these teams in the West are not worried about the Lakers and the Warriors. We don’t boast about being the ninth-best team in the East because we’ve been sucking these guys’ asses so much. They have no chance at all!”
Charles Barkley is somewhat correct, but the Lakers just proved last season how dangerous a play-in team could be by making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. Additionally, they have a 3-0 season record versus the Oklahoma City Thunder, a fact that Oklahoma City is undoubtedly aware of.
Because they have LeBron James and Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers have demonstrated that they are not your typical play-in tournament teams.
