Stephen Warnock has insisted that he absolutely loves Destiny Udogie, and lauded the Tottenham Hotspur left-back over one ‘absolutely incredible’ statistic.
On Sunday, Spurs played one of their greatest half of the year. The team led by Ange Postecoglou completely destroyed Aston Villa to win 4-0 at Villa Park and bolster their hopes of finishing in the top four.
To be honest, it would have been tough to choose a man of the match. Heung-min Son assisted on two goals and scored one. In the meantime, Pape Matar Sarr scored the first goal with an incredible cross.
Destiny Udogie incredible in emphatic Tottenham win
But Destiny Udogie also has to be in contention. What Postecoglou does with his full-backs leaves many mesmerised. And Udogie was absolutely back to his best against the Villans.
He completed two dribbles, misplaced just one of his 59 passes and made five interceptions, according to Whoscored.
And speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, Stephen Warnock insisted that he could not praise the £21 million youngster any higher – particularly when it concerns running with the ball at his feet.
“I adore the way the full-backs play. I adore Udogie,” he exclaimed.
“Each full-back Sometimes, I believe I’ve seen them playing as a striker or a number 10. It’s incredible. With the opposition, it causes a great deal of confusion. Shall we return? How do we proceed?
“I told you that Udogies have had the most dribbles in midfield this season while we were talking about them off-air. It’s amazing. It’s very amazing. However, he has so much strength as he runs with the ball.
He can move past people and push the ball, making him one of the top dribblers in the game. His powerful right arm allows him to easily shrug them off. I adore him, truly adore him.
Spurs have so much potential
There has definitely been a huge element of surprise about Tottenham this season. Many now forget just how The last season’s supporters wanted it to finish swiftly. With many of the same players, Postecoglou has altered the playing style still.
Of course, Udogie wasn’t at Tottenham the previous campaign. However, he was documented. It’s clear that at the time there was a perception that he wasn’t prepared for the Premier League.
But this season, Udogie has proven to be among the greatest left-backs in the league. It seems like he has frightening potential.
On Sunday, Aston Villa would have been fully aware of what Tottenham would do. And yet they could not hold them in.
