Ange Postecoglou makes ‘we are not dead’ claim after Tottenham – Aston Villa clash
Aston Villa away on a Premier League super Sunday was dubbed to be the make-or-break fixture for Tottenham Hotspur by many as the Lilywhites eye for the Champions League qualification spot. Countless pundits as well as supporters indicated this game to be an exciting one but one which offers the fourth spot.
The idea was, that the one that won the game would be favourites to finish fourth. Going into the game with a five-point gap from Aston Villa, a loss here would mean trailing by eight points despite having a game in hand.
A thumping victory over Villa just shows how far Tottenham have come, and this also means that the Whites from North London will now only have a two-point trail with a game in hand over fourth-placed Aston Villa.
Tottenham scored four second-half goals at Villa Park as they look to clinch the Champions League qualification spot for the 2024/25 campaign.
Speaking after the game, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou took a jibe at all those who said it was a do-or-die game for the Whites while he praised the tempo and quality of his side.

“We went on, we didn’t stop playing our football. Great focus.
“I thought today, if we could impose our intensity and tempo on the game for 100 minutes we’d be hard to stop.
“It’s not easy, especially away from home, but I though we handled ourselves really well.
“It means we’re one game closer, just 11 games to go. Everyone was billing this as a do-or-die for us. I assume we’re not dead yet.”
