Micah Richards has joked that Heung-min Son completely let him down as Tottenham Hotspur were beaten by Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
This past weekend was a tricky one for all Fantasy Premier League players. Many of the big-hitters were either in FA Cup action or had a weekend off.
Of course, it was easier for those who had their Free Hit up their sleeve. But obviously, there were some stalwarts who would have still been relied upon to bring in some points. And Heung-min Son was one of those many would have had high hopes for.
Micah Richards frustrated with Heung-min Son
Tottenham went into the weekend off the back of their outstanding 4-0 win over Aston Villa. And Son was superb against the Villans, scoring one and setting up two more.
But Spurs endured a miserable trip to Fulham. Marco Silva’s men won 3-0 at Craven Cottage to stun Ange Postecoglou’s side.
And speaking on The Rest Is Football, Micah Richards suggested that he was particularly disappointed in the South Korean after setting up his fantasy team for the weekend.
He said: “Son captain. Absolutely, he let me down. That spoilt my day that did!”
Tottenham’s most painful defeat this season
All we can say is Richards was far from being the only one to put their faith in Son and end up hugely disappointed.
There have been a few reminders this season that Spurs remain a work in progress. However, this weekend was possibly the most shocking given the strength of the side Postecoglou was able to select.
It also came after one of their most impressive victories of the campaign. And Tottenham had the opportunity to put themselves in the top-four.
Spurs now have to dwell on that result for the duration of the international break. And no-one will probably take the loss harder than the £22 million forward.
