Despite coming to N17 with a lot of promise, both have had extremely trying times, and rumors have it that they’re serious contenders to be cut this summer.
After spending two seasons on loan at both Man United and Brentford, Spence is reportedly not a part of Postecoglou’s long-term plans and will be put up for sale (Alasdair Gold). Meanwhile, left-back Sergio Reguilon is expected to leave after his brief stint at Millwall, and Leeds United is reportedly keen to sign Joe Rodon permanently, regardless of whether they are promoted back to the Premier League.
The axe poses a threat to Postecoglou’s present team as well.With just one year left on his contract after switching agents, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is largely expected to leave.Along with attacker Rickardson, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil have all been connected to Spurs exits as the summer transfer window draws near.
Tottenham receive “formal” proposal for Gil from Feyenoord
An intriguing update on Gil’s future was revealed this week in a report from the Netherlands. Gil might become a player for Feyenoord on July if they accept their “formal” approach to sign him this month ahead of the summer, according to 1908.nl.
Though it’s unclear exactly what this offer entails, the Spaniard is unlikely to agree if it’s a loan because he’s only willing to go if a viable, long-term project is presented to him abroad. Feyenoord, Brighton, and Real Sociedad were all interested in Gil during the January transfer window, but he decided to stay and battle for his spot under Postecoglou.
He hasn’t exactly gotten paid for that gesture of faith, though, and as the next transfer window draws nearer, it seems like his future is in jeopardy.
“You know about Bryan Gil, we are talking about a player who was born to play football,” Antonio Conte remarked in 2023. “It was really important.”
“He picks up football concepts rapidly. He is incredibly perceptive and wise to recognize the circumstances. You can see that this league is challenging since players need to possess a certain caliber, speed, and endurance, and he possesses these attributes.”
