Right now, Unai Emery’s project is just getting better, and Villa’s victory over Arsenal showed how far they’ve come.
In the second half, Villa outplayed the league’s top team and deservedly took the three points. Douglas Luiz was not on the squad.
Naturally, Emery’s team now has the ideal chance to build on that victory by going all the way to the Europa Conference League semifinal.
LOSC Lille are tough opposition, but Villa have provided plenty of reason to believe that they can get the job done.
That being said, it will be interesting to see who Unai Emery and his team target in the summer to continue all of this progress.
Last summer’s business was excellent, and the club must already have solid plans in place thus.
Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries seems to be on the radar, and Villa are even said to be in pole position for a deal.
And although he’s not necessarily linked with a move to the club, another Dutch right-back has just caused a stir
Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong spotted wearing an Aston Villa shirt after Bundesliga win
After winning the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen this past week, Remi Frimpong was seen celebrating by sporting an Aston Villa shirt.
The Villa fan base is quite curious about the occasion, which was recorded on Tik Tok and then uploaded on X.
And while it makes sense that a lot of fans would be thrilled by the suggestion of a potential move to the Midlands, it might be going a bit too far.
It certainly seem like Frimpong had a more sensible reason for dressing in this top.
As previously reported, Moussa Diaby left Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2017 to join Villa, and it appears the “incredible” defender and he have remained close.
The shirt looks to be a match-worn version and features Diaby’s name and number on the back.
Therefore, even if it’s impossible to predict the future, it appears the £38 million defender won’t be joining Aston Villa anytime soon.
That being said, Villa are reportedly considering a number of players for their right-back position, not just Denzel Dumfries.
