Tottenham to get Lionel Messi approval as Daniel Levy ‘works on contract offer’
According to reports, Giovani Lo Celso, a midfield player, is looking to sign a new deal with Tottenham. Even if the Argentine hasn’t played much in the Premier League this year, Ange Postecoglou hopes to convince the player that he’s still a part of the team in the long run.
In the summer, Lo Celso’s current contract will come to an end. There have long been rumors that the 28-year-old is leaving. There are rumors that Real Betis and Barcelona, the former team, are considering a possible trade.
Lionel Messi reportedly suggested Lo Celso to Barcelona during the January transfer window, according to the Spanish newspaper AS. Argentina’s best midfielder, according to Messi, is Lo Celso.
Additionally, with negotiations allegedly under way for a new contract, Spurs may potentially secure the iconic forward’s assent. Tutto Mercato claims that the Spurs intend to offer Lo Celso a two-year contract extension and may even raise his pay to persuade him to stay.
This season, Lo Celso has made 17 appearances in the Premier League; only four of those have been starts. He has played in the top division for 464 minutes, which is the same as five complete games.
Lo Celso played for Real Betis for two seasons before moving to Spurs in 2019. Rumor has it that Real Betis expressed interest in acquiring him last summer and again in January. The former player for Paris Saint-Germain, however, decided to stay in North London.
He claimed in January that Postecoglou’s faith in him was what convinced him to stay. He was adamant: “I worked hard and demonstrated my desire to play here every day because I was very appreciative of his believed in me. I’ve been really at ease with his coaching style and training methods. I adore his philosophy of football, which made me think I could be able to fit in with his group.
“My teammates and the coaching staff have both been helpful. Although it’s a personal struggle for my career, the coach’s strategy and mindset are assisting me in raising my level of performance because he assigns me specific tasks to perform in my function.
“Everything is going really well. Since he joined, he has greatly increased my sense of comfort and confidence.”
Spurs will probably have a busy summer transfer window. To assist Postecoglou in getting the North Londoners back among the Premier League’s elite, a new forward is probably being considered.
