Ange Confirm: Players suffers career ending injury

Tottenham will secure fifth place in the league if they can avoid a defeat at Sheffield United this weekend.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Gio Lo Celso is a doubt for the last game of the season after picking up a knock in training. The 28-year-old has been a mainstay on the bench this season, but he will now likely miss out entirely after picking up a knock in training.

The highly-rated Argentinian would now have likely played his last competitive game for the club with growing interest in his services from clubs in Spain. His lack of game time is likely to push him out of the door as he seeks regular playing time.

Ahead of the game against Sheffield United this weekend where the Lilywhites need a point to secure fifth place, Postecoglou confirmed Lo Celso was a doubt.

“The only one that’s a bit of a doubt is Gio Lo Celso,” Postecoglou said in an interview with SPURSPLAY. “He got a knock on his knee, he didn’t train today but we’ll see in training tomorrow.

“(There’s) A few sore bodies but nothing that will make any changes to the personnel from the other night so it’ll likely be a similar squad for Sunday’s game.”

This has been a disappointing campaign for the Lilywhiutes despite a brilliant start to the campaign that saw them blow away teams, winning eight of their first 10 games of the campaign.

The defeat to Manchester City this week was their 12th of the league season, at least two more defeats than any other team in the top five of the league table. Given that they were knocked out of the League Cup and FA Cup, this has been a truly underwhelming campaign.
