European giants now have headache after Nottingham Forest decision on £120,000-a-week player

Nottingham Forest have today made their decision clear on a player who has earned £120,000-a-week during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Reds secured their Premier League status for another season by beating Burnley 2-1 on Sunday.

Now, Forest will likely endure a pretty busy summer with several pieces of business taking place at the City Ground.

Much of the emphasis will be placed on outgoings and today it’s been announced that a number of players will be leaving.

One of the club’s loanees has now given his parent club a big headache – with Forest making a decision over his future that doesn’t sit well with them.

Nottingham Forest make decision on Divock Origi

It would appear now that AC Milan have a bit of a problem regarding Divock Origi after Forest chose not to buy him.

According to Sempre Milan, the San Siro giants are desperate to get rid of Origi during the summer.

They feel that his time at Forest will make life difficult in that sense and his excessive wages are proving a problem.

Origi earns £120,000-a-week at AC Milan and given that he’s had little impact at Forest, the chances of offloading him look slim.

The 29-year-old scored a single goal during his time at Forest and that one came in the FA Cup against Bristol City.

Today, Forest announced on their official website that they wouldn’t be activating any deals to buy any of their loan players.

That includes Origi and that is far from ideal from AC Milan’s perspective.

Forest have to learn lessons from loan market disaster

Origi wasn’t on his own in proving a disastrous loan signing made by Forest during 2023/24.

None of the club’s players who came to the club on loan during the campaign had much of an impact.

Gonzalo Montiel was perhaps the one exception – but he also looks like a player who is highly unlikely to sign permanently.

Forest have to learn some big lessons when it comes to the loan market.

It’s a market that could prove so useful if used properly but this season the club just didn’t utilise it right.

Lessons will hopefully be learned and if Forest do nab any loan deals ahead of next season, they need to be players who can make an impact on the team.

Morgan Gibbs-White has shared a potential response to missing out on the England squad.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate named a 33-man training squad ahead of this summer’s European Championship in Germany, with the final number that make the trip expected to be 26.

The likes of Luke Shaw, Ivan Toney and Adam Wharton were all included, while other big names, including Marcus Rashford and Ben Chilwell, missed out.

Gibbs-White had hoped to earn a place in the camp ahead of next month’s tournament, but was overlooked despite a string of impressive performances for Nottingham Forest and England’s Under-21 side.

The midfielder took to social media just after the squad was announced, seemingly responding to the announcement, before swiftly deleting the post.
