Behind the scene: Hugo Lloris reveals strange happening at Tottenham

Speaking to Le Parisien, the French goalkeeper said that he knew Spurs were coming to the end of a cycle, and so was he. “I knew that Tottenham wanted to recruit younger players, especially in my position. Summer was approaching, and I was no longer part of the plans.”

Lloris also said that Ange had “told him he wouldn’t play again, and he would only be a player for training”. He claims to be pushed aside, and become transparent.

Lloris made his final appearance for the club in the infamous 6-1 defeat at Newcastle in April 2023, being taken off at half-time in a sad way to go out.

Despite this, his contract ran out in the summer of 2024, and he reportedly rejected offers from elsewhere after not being guaranteed a number-one spot.

Hugo Lloris speaks on final few months at Tottenham

The next time he was seen by any of the fans was for his farewell against AFC Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve of last year after his transfer to Los Angeles FC was confirmed.

Per Wikipedia, Lloris made 447 appearances for Spurs, ranking him in eighth place in the club’s all-time record appearance holders.

Although there was a clear drop-off in his last few years at the club, he was undoubtedly a serviceable player for Spurs over a prolonged period, and it’s a shame that his time in North London ended the way it did.

Ideally, the Frenchman wasn’t trying to call Ange out and was instead merely explaining how it all ended.

Jose Mourinho tips Tottenham to win the Europa League next season

Tottenham Hotspur narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification this past season and they will look to bounce back strongly next year.

Former manager, Jose Mourinho has now heaped praise on the North London club stating that they are looking like a stable project and they are working to improve their squad with new signings in the coming weeks.

Mourinho feels that Spurs will be competing in the UEFA Europa League next season and they have a good chance of winning the tournament.

He said to TNT Sports (h/t TBR Football): “Tottenham, I have an idea. This is Tottenham, always fighting to be fourth, which would be amazing, between the fourth, the fifth and the sixth, next season Europa League, of course, they can win it.

“They look stability, they are investing more, amazing club, amazing facilities, such a beautiful stadium, you can feel it. Chelsea – I really don’t know.”

Tottenham have impressed under Ange Postecoglou this past season and they have put together an exciting squad with a lot of potential. With the right additions this summer, there is no reason why they cannot push for major trophies.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window and come back strongly next season. Winning the Europa league would be a major boost for the club and the fans.

Tottenham have not won a major trophy in a while and they will look to end their wait for silverware next season. There is no doubt that there has been progress under the Australian manager, and it remains to be seen whether they can go all the way in the European competition.

Winning the Premier League will be quite difficult for the North London club and they will need to improve their squad substantially in order to compete with Arsenal and Manchester City. However, winning a knockout tournament will be easier in comparison. It remains to be seen whether they can go all the way in the Europa league this coming season.
