Girona striker Artem Dovbyk has told his agent that he wants to stay at the La Liga club despite receiving offers from West Ham this summer.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, the Hammers have submitted an eye-catching bid of nearly £30 million (£29.6 million), but the Ukraine international has decided to stay put.
West Ham are looking to bolster their forward ranks despite signing Luis Guilherme this summer from Palmeiras. They have earmarked the in-demand striker who was in sensational form last season for Girona.
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have made an offer of around £21 million but Girona, who will play in the Champions League next season, have rejected their bid.
While the Hammers’ offer was really tempting, the 27-year-old striker wants to stay in Spain and play in the Champions League next season.
He scored 25 goals and provided 10 assists last season for Girona. However, he appears not keen on a move this summer, so West Ham will have to look for options elsewhere.
West Ham need to bolster their attacking areas
The Hammers have been very busy in the summer transfer window and they have secured three signings already.
Apart from Guilherme, they have signed Wes Foderingham on a free transfer and Max Kilman from Wolves.
West Ham need more signings to fix their dilapidated squad, and adding one or two new strikers is a priority.
Michail Antonio has been a great servant to the club but he is approaching the end of his career. There is a high chance that he could move to the MLS as he is not someone Julen Lopetegui wants to build his team around, and it makes sense as well.
Likewise, Danny Ings is likely to be sold. He has failed to impress since joining from Aston Villa and could move elsewhere towards the end of the window.
