Love, live and be proud of Bok rugby Mark Keohane urges

MARK KEOHANE urges Springbok fans to celebrate South Africa’s success, the brilliance of its players, and the leadership of Rassie Erasmus and Siya Kolisi.

Writing for TimesLIVE, Keohane emphasises the importance of living in the moment and appreciating the current dominance of the Boks without unnecessary comparisons to past teams or eras.

He highlights the Boks’ remarkable journey from the lows of historic defeats, such as the 57-0 loss to the All Blacks in 2017, to becoming back-to-back world champions.

Keohane praises Erasmus for building and maintaining a winning culture while fostering humility and resilience. Kolisi, as both a captain and player, receives special recognition for his monumental influence and unyielding presence in the team’s success.

He challenges the lack of acknowledgement for the likes of Damian de Allende and Kolisi in global discussions, arguing they deserve greater recognition.

“How cool is it to be a Springboks supporter right now. It is not a question but a statement,” Keohane writes.

“The Boks are the best team in the world, have the best players in most positions and are guided by the best coach. It feels good and it needs to be celebrated.

“There have been dark days in Springbok rugby in the past 28 years, since the game went professional, but there has never been as much light as there has been since 2019.

“Love it, live it and be proud of it. Appreciate it.”
