    Kaizer Chiefs Appollis Polokwane 2

Kaizer Chiefs’ big target Oswin Appollis recently met club legend Doctor Khumalo to chat about his future.

Kaizer Chiefs supporters have been yearning for Oswin Appollis. Find out what the Bafana Bafana and Polokwane City winger told Doctor Khumalo.

KAIZER CHIEFS LEGEND DOCTOR KHUMALO MET OSWIN APPOLLIS

Following hundreds of reports on the 23-year-old winger being chased by Amakhosi, Khumalo met Appollis in Cape Town to ask why he couldn’t join Kaizer Chiefs.

“One game of Bafana Bafana in Cape Town, Appollis was Man of the Match, and I handed over the cheque. So I called him to the side as I really wanted to know what’s blocking him from joining Chiefs,” Khumalo SABC TV’s SoccerZone show. Appollis replied: ” It’s not me, coach. It’s not me, legend. I don’t know why I am not able to join Chiefs”. “But I asked him, ‘What do you want?’ and he said, ‘I want to grow’. “I wondered how Appollis wants to grow because growth can happen in many different ways. I asked if he wanted to grow in terms of football or what, and he answered, ‘Yes, maybe something that can be challenging’.”

    KAIZER CHIEFS CELEBRATE 55 YEARS

Meanwhile, the club has released a statement to mark its 55th birthday:

“Today, 7 January 2025, marks a significant milestone in the history of our beloved Kaizer Chiefs as we celebrate the 55th anniversary of our founding in Phefeni, Orlando West in Soweto. It invokes a sense of deep satisfaction and immense pride as we reflect the journey that has brought us to this point – an odyssey filled with passion, patience, dedication, and resilience.

“When I, along with my fellow founding fathers, established Kaizer Chiefs in 1970 following the formation of Kaizer XI, we envisioned more than just a football club; we sought to create a beacon of hope and unity for our community during the difficult times of apartheid in South Africa. From those modest beginnings in Soweto, we aspired to build a legacy that would transcend football – a heritage rooted in the rich culture and spirit of our people. The dream was to provide a platform that would empower and inspire not only players but also our community and supporters, whom we regard as the heart and soul of the Club.

“Over the years, Kaizer Chiefs has evolved into more than just a team; we have become a family of millions. Our supporters have remained steadfastly loyal through thick and thin, celebrating our victories and supporting us in challenging times. To the loyal Amakhosi faithful who have been with us since the beginning, and those who joined our journey later, your unwavering commitment and passion have been instrumental in making Amakhosi the most supported Club in South Africa and one of the biggest in Africa. You are the ones who turn our home and away games into a sea of Gold & Black, creating an atmosphere that few Clubs can rival. This is the reason our mantra for this season is Always Home. This is because we feel at home wherever we play.

“As part of our 55th birthday celebration, we invite all our supporters to join us at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening when the team takes on Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership. It is a fitting occasion to honour our rich history together, and we encourage everyone to don their Gold & Black colours with pride and come together to celebrate this important milestone with us”. – The full statement is available on the club’s website.
