Kaizer Chiefs may have made a decided already on whether or not to sign a former Atletico Madrid youth striker!
It’s no secret that Chiefs are looking to bolster their attack in this coming window and may have a solution.
Chiefs were linked with Del Campo
New coach Nasreddine Nabi has been crying out for a need to sign a quality and experienced striker. In the previous window, he was linked to his former trusted striker Fiston Mayele. There were even unconfirmed rumours that Chiefs made a R15 million bid for the player in that window. In the end, it was acknowledged by all parties that the deal would be difficult to push through. This because Pyramid FC were not willing to let go of their top goal scorer and asset after just one season.
There were then rumours that Chiefs would come back and test the resolve of Pyramids with a R20 million offer. Those seem to have died down with no mention of Mayele being a target for a while now. That may be due to Amakhosi finding an alternative target instead! Last week this publication reported that they’re targeting former Switzerland youth International Ruben del Campo!
It was confirmed that Chiefs were just one of many clubs, some abroad that are in talks with Del Campo. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, they may have opted against signing him!

Del Campo, who recently became a free agent, had been linked with a potential move to the Amakhosi, but Siya sources have indicated that the club’s hierarchy has passed on the opportunity to bring the 24-year-old forward to Naturena. While Del Campo’s impressive goalscoring record might have made him a viable option for many teams, Kaizer Chiefs have decided to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements. It remains to be seen where the Swiss forward will end up next, but for now, Amakhosi are focused on other targets as they continue their search for the right player to bolster their attack.” Wrote the publication.
