Kaizer Chiefs had no luck in their pursuit of Bafana winger Oswin Appollis.
And, while they were trying to land the 23-year-old phenom, club icon Itumeleng Khune has been itching to get back following AmaKhosi’s reluctance to offer him a contract extension, putting him in the free agency market, eventually calling it quits unless Kaizer Chiefs call back.
However, a reunion is now on the cards.
Khune back at Chiefs
The club is considering the 37-year-old shot-stopper to join their marketing and commercial department:
“Yes, the club still wants to work with Itu (Khune),” a source confirmed.
“They feel that he still has a lot to offer outside the playing field and that’s why the talks never stopped,
“The club understands that he has other responsibilities in his life but they are looking at a possible way of formulating a conducive working partnership which will suit both parties and that’s why they are still talking to him regarding that position in the marketing and commercial department with Jessica.”
Appollis talks go stagnant
Polokwane City where able to keep hold of their in-form attacker Appollis amid Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates links; and it appears they’re adamant on keeping him in the future as chairman Johnny Mogaladi tries to build a competitive team able to fight for the title.
“And at the end of the day, fair enough, the owner doesn’t want to sell so it’s very difficult for everyone if the two clubs don’t come to an agreement, there’s nothing at all you can do,” Appollis’ agent Lance Davids revealed.
