Simone Inzaghi has been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Spurs have had a terrible season so far. They are out of both domestic cups and are currently 14th in the table, having won just two games in the Premier League since the start of December.

Among the names linked with Postecoglou’s job is Inzaghi, who has been doing a stellar job at Inter Milan since joining them in 2021.

Now, Spurs are said to be very interested in signing one of Inzaghi’s players this summer.

Tottenham make Marcus Thuram their top target

Tottenham decided against signing a replacement for Harry Kane when he left for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

Son Heung-min did as well as he could last campaign, but it became clear to everyone that Spurs needed an out-and-out centre-forward.

Postecoglou paid big money to sign Dominic Solanke, and the Englishman has done a good job whenever he has played.

However, when Solanke has been unavailable, Spurs have struggled, mainly because Richarlison has been injured more often than not.

Mathys Tel was brought in on loan and Tottenham have the option to make that move permanent. However, that clause is pointless if Tel decides to leave.

That is why Tottenham are already thinking of signing a new striker in the summer, and Inter Live claim that Marcus Thuram is on ‘top’ of the list of Spurs’ decision makers.

However, Inter Milan value their star attacker at €80 million (£66m), which means Spurs will have to break their transfer record to sign him.

Thuram is arguably one of the most underrated forwards in Europe right now.

The Frenchman is rarely ever mentioned when you’re talking about the top strikers on the continent, but his numbers have been really good over the years.

Since he joined Inter Milan and started playing under Inzaghi,

A direct goal contribution every 111 minutes is an excellent return for any forward, and that explains why Arsene Wenger compared Thuram to Thierry Henry in 2020 (Spiegel Sport).

Tottenham are right to target the Frenchman – he would be a fantastic signing for them, especially if Inzaghi replaces Postecoglou at the helm at Spurs.

But, it remains to be seen if Daniel Levy will spend £66 million on another striker, just 12 months after he splashed a similar amount on Solanke.
