Tottenham could be set for financial windfall with winger set to spark summer transfer bidding war

Paul Robinson expects a bidding war to emerge for the services of one Tottenham Hotspur winger this summer, with the goalkeeper suggesting that Leeds United and Everton may battle it out for the player’s signature.

A number of of Spurs’ youngsters are shining out on loan this season, including the likes of Luka Vuskovic, Jamie Donley, Alfie Devine, Josh Keeley, and George Abbott.

However, another more experienced Tottenham player is also quietly doing the business for his side at the top of the Championship: Manor Solomon.

Injuries prevented the winger from getting a chance to impress at Spurs last season, but he appears to have put his injury woes behind him since joining Leeds on loan, having scored seven goals and registered seven assists for the Premier League promotion hopefuls so far.

Tottenham had no plans to recall Solomon from loan in January despite their injury crisis and instead decided to utilise the available players at Postecoglou’s disposal.

However, Robinson believes that Daniel Farke’s men have to seal promotion to the top flight to have any chance of signing Solomon and revealed that he expects Everton to offer competition to the Championship side for the 25-year-old.

When asked about Solomon’s future, the former Spurs number one told Football Insider: “He looks a good player at that level. He’s played 26 times for Leeds, got seven goals and seven assists.

The question is whether he can make the step up, and I think out of that Leeds team he is one of the players who can compete in the Premier League.

“The expectation at Leeds now is to go up, but they need to buy Premier League players. He is one of the players that would add to Leeds and make them Premier League-ready.

“As far as Everton are concerned, we speak every week about them needing a winger. Solomon can play on either flank and can play as a number ten, depending on the formation David Moyes wants to adopt, and he’s a player who would bolster their ranks.

“He’s 25 now, you’re not waiting for potential, he’s ready and wants to go and play. Everton aren’t the only side interested, obviously, Leeds are there as well but they’re only in contention if they earn promotion to the Premier League.

“Solomon, you would expect since he’s been loaned out by Tottenham, is going to be the subject of a bidding war in the summer.

The important think for him is to play regular football, and I think Everton is a good fit for him, but there will be a lot of clubs looking at him.”

Solomon’s time at Spurs appears destined to end this summer

Some Tottenham fans will be wondering if Solomon can do a Djed Spence and potentially save his Spurs career after being shipped out on loan by Ange Postecoglou.

However, given the options that Postecoglou has in attack and the moment and considering the fact that the club are likely to add to that stock in the summer, the former Fulham man’s time at N17 appears to be over.

Spurs will be delighted to see how well Solomon is doing at Elland Road as it could drive even more interest in his services and push his price up in the summer.
