Michael Dawson believes that the next couple of months could be a real acid test for Ange Postecoglou’s credentials now that Tottenham’s injury situation is easing, with the centre-back making a big claim about what will convince the Lilywhites to sack the Australian.
One can argue that almost no other manager at Tottenham Hotspur over the last two decades would have survived the kind of results that Ange Postecoglou has.
That clearly suggests that the club understands the fact that the Australian’s hands have been tied by a major injury crisis.
However, with a number of key players returning to action over recent weeks, Postecoglou will be expected to turn around the side’s fortunes over the next few months.

Michael Dawson has now issued a warning to the 59-year-old about what Daniel Levy and the club’s hierarchy will be thinking.
The former Tottenham captain insisted that if the club find themselves in a similar position in the Premier League table by the end of the season despite the return of key men, Postecoglou will find himself out of a job.
When asked if Spurs will sack their head coach if the situation does not improve, Dawson told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (2.06pm): “I think they will. Where do you go to? They’ve tried everything.
“They tried Jose [Mourinho], they’ve tried [Antonio] Conte, let’s not forget Nuno [Espirito Santo] was in there and the fans weren’t happy with that when he came in, and he got off to a good start but he’s very defensive. We’ve seen the job he’s doing at Forest.
“So for me, get everyone back [from injury] and if Spurs are in this position with his whole team, full team, best team out there, I don’t see him being there. But he’s not had that all season.”
Europa League crucial for Postecoglou’s Tottenham future
If Tottenham fail to overcome the 1-0 deficit against Alkmaar and exit the Europa League at the round of 16 stage, it is difficult to see how Posetecoglou can still be in the job.
At the very least, the Australian would have to take the club to the semifinals of the competition in order to be relatively assured of his future.
The return leg against Alkmaar at the Tottenham Hotspur LStadium next Thursday is thus arguably the biggest game of Postecoglou’s Spurs tenure until now.
