Terry, who joined the Hammers at the age of eight, featured in every game of West Ham United’s FA Youth Cup winning campaign in 2023, conceding just six times as the Hammers lifted the trophy for the fourth time in their history by defeating Arsenal 5-1 in the final at Emirates Stadium.

Following a landmark 2022/23 season which saw his U18s side record a Premier League South and FA Youth Cup double, Terry signed his first professional contract before joining Essex-based Isthmian League side Concord Rangers on loan, where he was awarded the Supporters’ Player of the Season Award.

Currently enjoying his second senior loan spell, Terry has kept ten clean sheets in 36 National League South games for newly-promoted Hornchurch, and will have a shot at silverware when he lines up for the Essex Senior Cup final on Tuesday evening against Canvey Island at Colchester United’s JobServe Community Stadium.

Terry said: “I feel like the two loans that I’ve had, last year at Concord Rangers and this season at Hornchurch, have developed me so much within my journey.

Being able to train here with the U21s, being around the first team, working with the first-team goalkeepers, and then playing men’s football, it’s been the best of both worlds. I feel like I’ve improved a lot since last year, although I’m still developing and I’ve got a lot of learning still to do. I know how important getting senior football experience is.

The physicality is a lot higher and there’s a lot more at stake.”

Joined by his close family, U21s lead coach Mark Robson and Head of Academy Goalkeeping Billy Lepine, Terry put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal at Rush Green training ground.

First-team goalkeeper Alphonse Areola also stopped by to congratulate him on his contract extension.

“It was a really nice touch from Alphonse to come and get in a photo with me,” Terry continued. “I was really happy. But I think with all the goalies, with Wes [Foderingham], Łukasz [Fabiański] and Alphonse, they’re world-class, and to get the opportunity to train with them and aspire to be like them, that’s where I want to get to.”

Also inspired by the pathways of England internationals that plied their trade in non-league before making it in the Premier League, Terry hopes to one day follow in their footsteps.

He added: “When I look at English goalkeepers like Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale and Dean Henderson; they all went out on multiple non-league loans and played loads of men’s football.

That pathway is something that inspires me. I want to work my way up the pyramid and reach the top.”
