Tottenham interested in signing Liverpool player who started Carabao Cup final

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on an experienced Liverpool man, but the North London club are now unlikely to be able to convince him to join after what they did in the January window.

Tottenham addressed their goalkeeping situation in the January window by securing talented young Czech goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky, who has shown plenty of promise, even though he has made a couple of mistakes.

Just ahead of that move, Spurs were linked with Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has impressed as an understudy to Alison Becker at Anfield over the last few years.

The Republic of Ireland international enters the final year of his contract this June, but Tottenham are now expected to face one roadblock in their efforts to persuade him to come to N17.

Why Tottenham are unlikely to win the race for Caoimhin Kelleher

Give Me Sport have now become the latest outlet to credit Tottenham Hotspur with an interest in Kelleher, explaining that the 26-year-old is now highly sought after ahead of the summer.

They say that the shot-stopper is likely to leave Anfield at the end of the season as he is keen to take on a new challenge and play regular football.

However, the goalkeeper is ‘unlikely’ to sign for Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou’s men would not be able to guarantee him the minutes he is looking for.

    MORE SPURS STORIES

It is explained that Spurs are backing Kinsky to be Guglielmo Vicario’s understudy, with the club not expected to strengthen in goal in the summer.

Where will Kelleher end up after Liverpool exit?

Even though Kelleher enters the final year of his deal this June, Liverpool are expected to demand around £25m for his services.

The report states that Bournemouth have expressed an interest in the Irish goalkeeper, with the Cherries yet to make a decision on whether to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga permanently in the summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also been mooted as a potential destination for the Reds shot-stopper.
