Who is Vladyslav Vanat? 16-goal hotshot linked with Leeds United transfer
Piroe, who joined Leeds for £12million from Swansea City in July 2023, is the club’s top scorer on 15 goals in 38 matches this season. However, apart from Piroe, Leeds don’t have another prolific striker in their squad, with Mateo Joseph netting just three goals in 36 appearances in 2024/25.
It’s a position that Leeds want to strengthen and Vanat has been identified as a potential target, having impressed for Dynamo Kyiv over the last couple of years.
According to TBR Football, Leeds, West Ham, Brentford, Fulham and Wolves have set their sights on making a move for the 23-year-old forward.
But who is Vanat? Born in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine, Vanat joined the Dynamo Kyiv academy in 2015, aged 13, and progressed through the youth system before making his first-team debut four years ago.
Vanat, who debuted for Dynamo Kyiv against Kolos Kovalivka in the Ukrainian Premier League in May 2021, spent the following season out on loan at Chornomorets Odesa. He returned to Kyiv in July 2022 and cemented himself as a regular starter, scoring 13 goals and adding three assists in 36 matches that season.
Having won his first senior Ukraine cap in June 2023, Vanat took his game to another level last season, directly contributing to 24 goals in just 30 matches, scoring 14 times and assisted 10. It was a run of scoring form that saw Vanat attract interest from across Europe last summer, though he stayed in Kyiv.
A technically gifted front man, Vanat has been compared to former Arsenal and Manchester United hitman Robin van Persie. He is known for his pace, ability to drop back for the ball, his work ethic and his finishing. As well as playing through the middle, Vanat can also play out wide and in the No.10.
