The end of season run-in landed last night when Sheffield United defeated Coventry City 3-1 at Bramall Lane, but plenty is still to be decided, including the race for the play-offs and battle to survive, as well as automatic promotion for Leeds and their two close competitors.

With Burnley and the top two aiming to gain the financial reward of automatic promotion, but also possibly to be among the highest points tallies in Championship history in the process, given the current rate of points per game that each side is averaging.

The quality in the Championship squads of the top three is undeniable. However, that doesn’t mean everything in a race for promotion.

There have also been calls that Leeds could miss vital leadership figures in 2024/25, which is why they will be desperate to right the wrongs of last season and Farke will be desperate to avoid the play-offs.

That said, supercomputers are predicting promotion for Farke’s men from the Championship. Today represents a fantastic opportunity for three points, with an eye on how Bristol City get on against Scott Parker’s side, too.

The stats speak for themselves and are why experts are predicting a Leeds win against Swansea in the three o’clock kick off. Furthermore, Swansea should be worried given how poor their record is at Elland Road since September 1949 — a little over 75 years ago.

Swansea have won just one of their last 17 away league games against Leeds in that time (D3, L13), with the exception coming via a 1-0 victory at Elland Road in August 2019 for Steve Cooper against Marcelo Bielsa thanks to Wayne Routledge’s late winner.

Since then, Leeds have won each of their last four league games against Swansea City, including that famous Pablo Hernandez goal in lockdown 2020. In the last three recent fixtures, they have scored three or more goals in each.

If that wasn’t enough for Swansea, they have also lost six of their last eight away league games recently, winning one and drawing one, while also failing to score in four separate matches during that time — and never netting more than once in a game.

Leeds’ last three o’clock kick off came against another South Wales side in Cardiff City. Leeds have won each of their last six league games against sides from Wales, scoring 3.8 goals on average per match during that time, including putting seven past Swansea’s bitter rivals in February.

Leeds have lost just once this season at Elland Road, having made Elland Road a fortress. Only Birmingham City have a better home record than Leeds in the top four tiers of English football.

This is already the club’s longest winning run against Welsh opposition in league action. It seems as though Farke has the number of the opposition west of the English border.

Speaking of Farke and Bielsa, we outlined which Leeds managers have the highest win percentages in the club’s history. The German continues to set more records and will hope to continue that against Swansea.

Farke’s Premier League credentials don’t make for great reading, but he and Leeds will hope for more backing than his Norwich City side gained during their recent stints at English football’s top table — should they make it to the Premier League for the 2025/26 campaign.
