Douglas Luiz Juventus
Manchester United have a number of players in their current squad that they would like to move on this summer. Ruben Amorim needs to find a way to prune the squad and sell players to make room for potential signings that they want.
The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha this summer, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer.
News – Fee reduced – Man Utd now have to agree £30million fee for midfield signing
The Brazilian is an excellent addition to Man Utd’s attack but the club also has attackers that they want to move on.
One among those players is Jadon Sancho. The Englishman spent last season on loan at Chelsea with middling success, but failed to reach an agreement on salary and the Blues sent him back to Manchester by paying a fee.
Now, as per Give Me Sport, Juventus are offering a very strange deal involving three players – Douglas Luiz and Dusan Vlahovic and Tim Weah in exchange for Sancho. Our focus is on the first two. This offer seems to make absolutely no sense on paper for the Italian club.
Vlahovic is valued at around £47m and ex-Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is valued at around £34m, making it a combined fee of around £81m. Why would Juventus offer so much to sign an inconsistent player like Sancho.
Sancho has been in England for a few seasons now but consistency has been lacking from his game. Despite the obvious talent and the quality that he possesses, the performances have been few and far and not worthy of the way Juventus value him.
From a Man Utd perspective, getting Serie A proven, Vlahovic, and Premier League proven, Luiz, in exchange for Sancho is a huge win. Juventus, on the other hand, would be taking a huge gamble on the Englishman.
Ultimately, the Red Devils should not be complaining if Juventus make such an offer. The next few weeks could provide more clarity on this situation and it remains to be seen how things play out.
