As the Stormers edge closer to the final stages of their tournament campaign, head coach John Dobson has issued a stern internal reminder: early success means nothing if it’s not finished with silverware.

Speaking to the team ahead of the crucial upcoming fixtures, Dobson reportedly addressed the rising confidence in the squad—but with a warning tone.

“Complacency is the enemy. We haven’t won anything yet.”

Known for his passion and emotional leadership, Dobson’s message was aimed at grounding the group, many of whom have been riding high after an impressive run of form. With knockout stages looming, he’s made it clear: momentum is fragile, and nothing is guaranteed.

“Strong pool performances or early wins don’t matter if we don’t show up when it counts,” he added, according to sources close to the camp.

The Stormers have built a reputation as one of the most dangerous sides in the competition, but Dobson is focused on keeping minds sharp and egos in check. Internal training sessions have reportedly become more intense, with increased focus on execution under pressure and mental discipline.

Players have echoed the sentiment, with one senior squad member saying:

“Dobbo’s right—we’ve been here before. Now it’s about finishing the job.”

With a passionate fan base and expectations running high in Cape Town, Dobson’s message is clear: no celebrations until the job is done.
