Manchester United have ruled out a move to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez this summer, with the Midlands club unwilling to sanction a loan deal, according to The Athletic.
GIVEMESPORT sources recently confirmed that Villa’s Martinez offered himself to United, with the Argentina international keen on making a move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils were yet to make a decision on whether to make a move at the time, but Fabrizio Romano later confirmed that talks then took place between United and Martinez.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Manchester United had submitted a loan offer to try and sign Martinez, but Villa rejected their opening bid. Martinez, who has been described as ‘world-class’ by Sky Sports pundit Dan Bardell, is clearly keen on a move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, but he might not get his wish.

According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester United have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez. The Midlands club have confirmed that they only want to sanction a permanent exit, and the cost of a potential deal is something that United aren’t willing to entertain.
Andre Onana has struggled to win supporters over since joining the Manchester club, and it’s a worrying situation for him with United clearly looking to bring in another goalkeeper. Although a move for Martinez could now be off the table, Amorim’s side are in the market for a new shotstopper, casting doubt over the future of Onana.
Securing the signature of Martinez on loan was never going to be easy, considering he is still Villa’s number one goalkeeper, so it will be interesting to see whether United are willing to dip their hands in their pocket for the permanent signing between the sticks.
