This has been a bold offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a new quarterback in future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson and an intriguing backup in Justin Fields.
They also brought in Patrick Queen, an emerging linebacker who made the Pro Bowl in 2023 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.
More recently, Pittsburgh kept adding to its roster by signing defensive lineman Dean Lowry to a two-year contract, per Around The NFL.
A fourth-round draft pick out of Northwestern University, Lowry will be going into his ninth pro season this fall.
He spent last season with the Minnesota Vikings, where he was limited to nine games because of a pectoral injury.
Prior to that, he had played each of his first seven NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, and for his career so far, he has totaled 15.5 sacks, 34 quarterback hits, 23 tackles for loss, and 17 passes defended.
True to their illustrious history, the Steelers win with defense, and if Lowry is healthy and spry, he can provide support for Queen and perennial Pro Bowl pass rusher T.J. Watt at the linebacker position.
Last season, they went 10-7 and made the playoffs despite poor play from the quarterback position, where second-year man Kenny Pickett showed he was outmatched and lost his starting job.
On offense, they still have emerging star wide receiver George Pickens and running back Najee Harris, and the hope is that new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith can get the most out of their main men on that side of the football.
