Son’s nine years at Tottenham are filled with statistics that strongly suggest he is one of the best players to have ever played in the Premier League.
The South Korean forward moved up to fifth in Tottenham’s all-time goalscoring lists with his goal against Lincoln Town on Saturday, and he will be hoping to join the 200 club before his time in North London is over, along with the likes of Jimmy Greaves and Harry Kane.
Son’s worth to the Spurs team is evident in more ways than just his stats, as the forward consistently steps up to the plate when his team most needs him.
His importance to the Lilywhites has only increased since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival, with the forward forging himself into a leader for his young and relatively inexperienced teammates to look up to.

When Schmeichel was asked about Son becoming Tottenham’s fifth highest goalscorer, the Man Utd legend informed Premier League Productions at 11:00 p.m. on March 31, 24: “What a fantastic player, isn’t he? He gives the team his all at work. He moves quickly. Those figures point to a slight selfishness. He lacks that.
“He will pass the ball if he is in a good position and someone else is in a better one. Who scored the goal doesn’t matter to him. He is able to locate the objective they require or provide the opportunity they require.
It is reasonable to argue that Son is nearing the conclusion of his career rather than the beginning, even if he clearly has several more years left in him at the top level. Son is from South Korea.
It is a privilege to watch him play for Tottenham on a weekly basis and we as Spurs fans need to relish every moment. There is nothing that would make me happier than to see the 31-year-old lifting a trophy as club captain.
